Rutgers Health/Trinitas Regional Medical Center Program

The General Psychiatry Residency Program at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, in affiliation with Rutgers Health, provides a comprehensive training experience for physicians-in-training. The program offers a well-rounded curriculum and board certification courses from PGY1 to PGY4, with a remarkable 100% board certification rate each year. Residents gain experience in various psychiatry subspecialties and treatment modalities, including inpatient, outpatient, geriatric psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, substance abuse, child psychiatry, consultation, and emergency psychiatry.

Dr. Rehan Malik, the Program Director, is a double board-certified physician in psychiatry and neurology, overseeing a program that integrates comprehensive training and clinical experiences in a supportive environment. Residents have the opportunity to treat their own patients under expert supervision and receive training in various therapeutic modalities like psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family and group therapy, neuropsychological testing, and interviewing techniques.

The program is based at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, offering a cohesive training experience within their extensive Behavioral Health and Psychiatry departments. Residents only need to travel off-site for two months of Neurology training. The program prefers candidates with scores of 225 and above on USMLE or 550 on Comlex, all on the first attempt. It's important to note that the program does not sponsor visas for applicants.
