In the initial year, residents participate in dedicated rotations in obstetrics and gynecology, supplemented with additional experiences in OB/GYN ultrasound as well as blocks in the Emergency Department, Pediatrics, and Ambulatory Medicine. By the end of the first year, residents begin to transition into more specialized roles during PGY2, where they assume greater responsibilities and are expected to showcase competency in both obstetric and gynecologic services. 4
As residents progress to PGY3, they gain proficiency in major gynecologic procedures and the management of fetal complications, supported by intensive rotations in Maternal Fetal Medicine and GYN Oncology. The senior year (PGY4) positions residents in chief roles where they manage complex cases and administrative responsibilities while preparing for board examinations and culminating their research projects.
