• Pulmonary Consult: Involves active participation in inpatient consults, developing management plans and proficiency in various pulmonary procedures like thoracentesis and bronchoscopy.
• Medical ICU: Fellows hold supervisory roles in the ICU and engage in a wide variety of critical care cases, gaining confidence and competence in managing different critical scenarios.
• Other ICU Rotations: Fellows rotate through various ICUs, including cardiothoracic and surgical, gaining diversified critical care experience.
• Clinical Skills and Procedures: Hands-on experience in advanced mechanical ventilation and critical care procedures, including point-of-care ultrasound.
• Research and Electives: The program includes 4.5 months of protected research and elective time, allowing fellows to pursue individual career interests.

Research Opportunities

Fellows are encouraged to engage in research activity, with dedicated research blocks throughout their training. The program supports scholarly activity with resources and mentorship aimed at the development of publishable research and presentations at respected national conferences such as CHEST, ATS, and SCCM.
