SUNY Upstate Medical University Program

The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at SUNY Upstate Medical University was established in 1949 and offers a complete four-year training program for 28 Diagnostic Radiology residents. The core faculty of 35 attending radiologists provides in-depth training in all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology. The majority of resident training takes place at the University Hospital of SUNY Upstate Medical University. The program aims to provide high-quality patient care and resident education. Residents are encouraged to pursue academic activities like posters, papers, and educational exhibits. The curriculum includes rotations in core subspecialties, teaching conferences, and academic stipends for board examinations and educational resources.

The application process is through ERAS and requires a minimum of 3 letters of recommendation, Dean's Letter, medical school transcripts, and USMLE Board Scores. They prefer a USMLE Step 2 score of at least 240 and accept both US and Canadian medical graduates. The program has a deadline of November 1st for applications.

The department has state-of-the-art equipment across various clinical sites and offers rotations in diverse locations. Residents benefit from exposure to different clinical settings, including academic and private practices. The program has a history of strong performance by residents in board examinations and successful fellowship matches.

The program offers J-1 visas, and candidates with Permanent Resident status or work permits are also considered. While US clinical experience is preferred, it's not mandatory. The program does not sponsor H1B visas. The residents have obtained desirable fellowships and academic or private practice positions after graduation.
