The Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Iowa is a three-year, ACGME-accredited program designed to provide fellows with the essential clinical and research training necessary to become independent pediatric gastroenterologists. Operated within the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, the program promotes excellence through a combination of hands-on experience and academic instruction.

• Completion of a three-year pediatric residency program
• Fulfillment of licensing requirements for medical practice in the state of Iowa

Applicants must submit a completed ERAS application, a résumé or CV, a personal statement, and three letters of recommendation. Standardized examination scores (USMLE Step 1 and Step 2) are also required, along with an ECFMG certificate for international medical graduates.

Visa Support

The Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship can sponsor visas for qualified international applicants, facilitating their participation in the program. This includes support for J-1 visas for international medical graduates who meet the program's eligibility requirements.
