The Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is a comprehensive one-year program designed to prepare physicians for careers in both academic and clinical settings within the specialty of cardiothoracic anesthesia.

Fellows in the program undergo a rigorous and diverse curriculum which includes:

• Six months of adult clinical cardiothoracic operating room experience in supervisory and primary roles.
• Two months focused on transesophageal echocardiography (TEE).
• One month in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
• One month dedicated to thoracic anesthesia.
• One month of out-of-OR cardiac anesthesia, covering electrophysiology and cardiac catheterization lab.
• Two months of elective time for specialized training or mentored research 3.
