Yale-New Haven Hospital Program
Laboratory genetics and genomics (Medical Related Specialty) - New Haven, CT | ACGME Code: M020800001
The Yale-New Haven Hospital Program offers a two-year ACGME accredited Clinical Genetics and Genomics residency training program. This program provides comprehensive training in various areas of clinical genetics, including general pediatric and adult genetics, metabolic genetics, prenatal genetics, and cancer genetics. Residents have the opportunity to rotate through inpatient and outpatient areas, as well as onsite molecular and cytogenetics laboratories, with exposure to exome sequencing analysis, microarray, FISH, and chromosome analysis.
Residents in this program will have a six-month protected block for research, which can be conducted anywhere within Yale University. Upon completion of the program, residents can apply for certification through the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG).
The program is open to individuals with a U.S. or Canadian earned M.D. or D.O. degree, or equivalent, who have trained for a minimum of one year in an ACGME-accredited residency program that includes 12 months of direct patient care. Application for the residency is through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) with a match date in October of each year. Two positions per year are sponsored, with rolling admission available for unmatched positions.
For individuals with doctoral degrees earned outside the U.S., Canada, or Puerto Rico, it is strongly recommended to have their international credentials reviewed by the ABMGG Credentials Committee for equivalency prior to entering an ACGME-accredited clinical genetics and genomics residency program.
