Akron Children's Program

The Akron Children’s pediatric residency program is designed to provide a comprehensive educational experience for medical graduates in the field of pediatrics. Curriculum Overview

The curriculum comprises a series of required and elective rotations, offering exposure to a diverse range of pediatric subspecialties. It focuses on developing the residents' clinical expertise, research skills, and advocacy abilities. Over the course of the residency, trainees will engage in ten blocks of required rotations, including: Inpatient Medicine, Inpatient Hematology-Oncology, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Ambulatory Pediatrics.1

Residents can choose from an array of elective subspecialties such as Allergy-Immunology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, and Sports Medicine among others. Each rotation aims to deepen their knowledge and hands-on skill in specific areas of interest, ensuring well-rounded training in pediatrics.15
