The Campbell University/Sampson Regional Medical Center Family Medicine Residency program offers a comprehensive training experience for residents in various aspects of family medicine.

Clinic Experience: Residents are assigned to pods within the clinic to provide continuity of care for patients. They gain experience in managing patients of all ages and are exposed to various medical specialties such as pediatrics, geriatrics, adult medicine, adolescent medicine, gynecology, maternity care, and procedural visits. Training in the clinic includes point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for musculoskeletal care and obstetrics.

Inpatient Care: Residents participate in inpatient and night-float rotations, gaining experience in managing critical care under supervision. They have access to procedures like central line placement, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, and intubation. Residents manage patients with diverse pathology and focus on the stabilization and transport of critically ill patients.

Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine: The program offers a robust Osteopathic Manipulation Technique (OMT) curriculum for both DO and MD residents. Regular didactics cover osteopathic concepts, practices, and principles. Residents have the opportunity to practice OMT techniques during clinic visits and inpatient rounds. Access to additional resources at Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine is provided.

Women's Health: The Women's Health curriculum is a strong aspect of the program, with opportunities to assist in cesarean sections and perform vaginal deliveries under supervision. Residents gain outpatient women's health experience and are trained in common gynecological procedures like Nexplanon insertion/removal, intrauterine device insertion/removal, and endometrial biopsy. Continuity of care is emphasized in obstetrical care, promoting patient-provider relationships through conception to delivery.

Overall, the program focuses on providing a well-rounded training experience for future family physicians to develop the skills and confidence needed to care for patients in various settings.
