This program, the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Valley Health System, is sponsored by Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and is based in Paramus, New Jersey. The curriculum is designed to focus on outstanding, evidence-based clinical care, patient ownership, bedside and team-based care, innovation, and leadership skills.

Application requirements include a preference for passing USMLE Steps 1 & 2 and/or COMLEX Levels 1 & 2 on the first attempt, with no set minimum score requirements. The program requires a cut-off date of 3 years from graduation from medical school to application to residency. Additionally, a minimum of two letters of recommendation are necessary, with at least one from an internal medicine faculty member strongly suggested. U.S. clinical experience is required for international medical graduates.

The program will accept 12 residents per year, with interviews for the 2023-2024 season conducted virtually from October through January. The Valley Hospital in Paramus is the main inpatient campus, with outpatient clinics located at Valley's Ridgewood campus and several primary care and specialty outpatient sites across Bergen County.

The curriculum involves a comprehensive rotation schedule with inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care experiences. Didactic education includes conferences, morning reports, journal club, board review, case report curriculum, quality improvement training, and more. The program aims to train the next generation of healthcare leaders and offers a diverse range of clinical experiences to support individualized career goals and preferences.
