This Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program at St. Joseph's University Medical Center is committed to providing professional training in Plastic Surgery. The program was established in 2014 and received ACGME accreditation in 2017 for a 10-year period. It is an independent program that accepts one applicant annually who has completed training in General Surgery.
Residents in this program receive ample training in various aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery. The program boasts full-time faculty members along with voluntary private plastic surgeons who offer valuable guidance to foster independence and scholarly pursuits. Residents benefit from a high clinical volume and faculty-led educational conferences. They are also encouraged to participate in international trips with the Program Director, gaining exposure to different healthcare systems in underserved regions.
Research is actively promoted among the attending staff and residents interested in a career in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In 2017, the program performed over 4000 reconstructive cases and 1500 cosmetic cases.
