With a deep-rooted history spanning over 45 years, the program has evolved to meet the demands of today’s healthcare environment, catering to a total of 24 residents at any given time.

Program Highlights: - Clinical Rotations & Broad Learning Environment: Residents benefit from a variety of clinical rotations and office-based practice. These opportunities are supported by 24/7 coverage at Latrobe Hospital, providing a broad understanding of the continuum of care. - Behavioral Health Training: The program integrates high-level behavioral health training, including appointments with faculty psychologists and telemedicine visits with psychiatrists within the family medicine offices. - Facilities: The residency program operates out of the Sandra S. Mellon Medical Education Suite at the Square at Latrobe. It has recently expanded into brand new facilities, creating a modern and comprehensive learning environment. - Community and Practice Focus: The program maintains practice sites in Latrobe, Mount Pleasant, and Saltsburg, with an emphasis on community health and continuity of care. Residents manage their own panel of patients alongside faculty physicians, fostering a real-world practice experience. - Diverse Opportunities: Graduates of the residency have pursued a wide range of career paths including fellowships, hospitalist roles, urgent care, and ambulatory practices. The curriculum supports a pluripotent approach, preparing residents for various future roles. - Supportive Environment: The program boasts a family-oriented atmosphere with an experienced faculty. Benefits for residents include housing options across from the hospital, a near 100% board pass rate, and a comprehensive support system aimed at preparing residents for real-world medical practice.

Application Requirements: - Eligibility includes fourth-year students or graduates from medical schools accredited by the LCME, AOA, or foreign medical schools with specific clinical rotation or accredited internship/residency requirements in the U.S. - International medical graduates must have a current, valid ECFMG certificate and passing scores on USMLE I and II and CSA. The program does not specify a cut-off for year of graduation and sponsors J1 Visas only. - Applicants must be eligible to obtain a medical training license in Pennsylvania.
