Legacy Health/Salmon Creek Medical Center Program

The Legacy Salmon Creek Internal Medicine Residency Program, affiliated with Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, is designed to develop highly skilled primary care internists. Residents will primarily conduct ward rotations at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, complemented by ambulatory rotations at Vancouver Clinic – Salmon Creek, which emphasizes primary care.

Application Process

Prospective applicants must submit their applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The application package requires a completed application, a personal statement, a current photograph, medical school transcripts, a Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), and three letters of recommendation. The program adheres to a holistic review process for applications, considering lower exam scores while preferring a minimum USMLE score of 190 or a COMLEX score of 525.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have graduated from medical school and possess current clinical experience within one year of application. To further strengthen applications, it is suggested that candidates pass USMLE/COMLEX Steps 1 and 2 on their first attempt. Graduates with ECFMG certification can apply; however, the program does not sponsor visas and accepts only ECFMG-sponsored J1 visas.

Competitiveness

The Legacy Salmon Creek Internal Medicine Residency Program is regarded as highly competitive, opening its doors not only to U.S. graduates but also to international medical graduates (IMGs) and DO candidates.
