The Neurology Residency Program at Louisiana State University (Shreveport) is a fully accredited four-year program that offers five positions each year. The first year is spent in the Internal Medicine Department, with subsequent training at various medical centers in Shreveport. Residents receive comprehensive training in neurology, including exposure to a wide range of neurological disorders. The program features dedicated faculty providing mentorship and education, with opportunities for subspecialty electives such as neuromuscular, epilepsy/EEG, stroke, multiple sclerosis, headache, and neurocritical care.

Residents have the chance to participate in clinical research and present their work at national conferences. The program offers various educational activities, including morning report, noon conferences, neurology grand rounds, journal clubs, and board review lectures. Residents have ample exposure to outpatient clinics and subspecialty clinics for hands-on experience. Each resident also participates in procedures clinics to learn various neurology procedures.

Graduating residents often pursue further training through subspecialty fellowships at competitive programs. The program emphasizes clinical and academic excellence, with a focus on individual growth and preparation for further academic pursuits or private practice.
