The Neurology Residency Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center offers a unique training experience under the guidance of Dr. Alissa Willis. The program features a blend of experienced clinicians and basic scientists with diverse backgrounds and subspecialty interests. Residents have the opportunity to care for a large and diverse patient population at both University Hospital and the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital.

This program provides residents with an extensive clinical experience, including active inpatient and outpatient services that expose them to a wide variety of neurologic conditions. Residents often have the opportunity to be the first to recognize and diagnose such conditions. The Adult Neurology Residency Program is a four-year categorical program with a preliminary (PGY-1) year of internal medicine training, supervised by both the neurology and internal medicine program directors.

The Department of Neurology at UMMC aims to promote excellence in patient care, student and resident physician education, and clinical and basic investigation of neurologic diseases. Dr. Manasa Gunturu serves as the Program Director, while Dr. Sukriye Damla Kara is the Associate Program Director.

Overall, the Neurology Residency Program at the University of Mississippi Medical Center presents an exciting opportunity for medical students interested in pursuing neurology training.
