The SAUSHEC Ophthalmology Residency is a three-year integrated training program based in San Antonio at the military medical centers of San Antonio Military Medical Center and Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center.

The program accommodates six residents each year, with four slots reserved for the U.S. Air Force and two for the U.S. Army.

Residents experience rotations at both teaching hospitals, gaining exposure to various ophthalmology subspecialties, including Cornea & External Disease, Oculoplastics, Glaucoma, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Retina & Vitreous, Neuro-Ophthalmology, and Ophthalmic Pathology.
