The Rochester General Hospital Interventional Radiology Residency Program is a dual certificate program in Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology. The program offers an Integrated IR/DR Residency, Independent IR Residency, and Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) programs.
The Integrated IR/DR Residency is a five-year training program that provides comprehensive training in all aspects of Interventional Radiology combined with imaging expertise. The program is fully accredited by the ACGME. Residents will spend time mastering diagnostic radiology in the first three years and then focus on clinical IR training in the senior years.
The Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) is for second-year diagnostic radiology residents interested in pursuing IR. It involves a concentration in IR during the fourth DR year, allowing residents to accumulate IR procedures and qualify for ESIR designation.
The Independent IR Residency offers one- and two-year positions for graduates of Diagnostic Radiology residencies who want to complete training in interventional radiology. This program allows residents to sit for the IR/DR exam and become eligible for the dual IR/DR certificate.
Application requirements include three letters of recommendation, CV, Dean's Letter, and a Personal Statement. The program has a virtual interview process and encourages diversity among applicants. The deadline for applications is October 15th. There is no minimum board score requirement to apply.
The program offers various benefits and compensation for residents, including online Physics course, AIRP training, moonlighting opportunities, vacation time, professional liability insurance, and more. Resident salaries range from $72,000 to $90,000 depending on the program year.
For additional information or inquiries about the program, applicants can contact the IR Residency Program Coordinators, Margot Schutte, and Chelsey Shufelt. The website provides detailed information on faculty, current residents, and graduates of the program.
