The General Surgery Resident Program at Samaritan Health Services in Corvallis, Oregon is affiliated with Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine Pacific-Northwest. The flagship hospital, Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, is a Level-II Trauma Center with advanced facilities including robotic-assisted surgery, a heart and vascular institute, and a comprehensive cancer center in collaboration with Stanford University.

Residents in this program receive training in various specialties including general surgery, gastroenterology, emergency medicine, anesthesia, plastic surgery, medical intensive care, trauma and acute care, bariatrics, vascular, HPB, transplant, burn, and pediatric surgery. They also have the opportunity to rotate at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland. Additionally, special-interest and research electives are available to enhance the residents' experience.

The curriculum is fully accredited by ACGME and includes hands-on experience, scholarly activities, and research projects culminating in a yearly Research Day presentation. The program aims to keep residents at the forefront of technology and procedures in the field of general surgery.

The faculty at Samaritan Health Services are dedicated to providing comprehensive hands-on experiences and an excellent didactic program. The residents benefit from a supportive environment with committed practitioners who are focused on educating the next generation of general surgery physicians.

The program accepts medical student sub-I applications between Feb 1 and May 15, and residency applications between Sept. 15 and Dec. 31 of the year prior to the start of the cohort.
