The Vascular Surgery Residency Program at TriHealth (Good Samaritan Hospital) offers both integrated 0+5 and traditional 5+2 programs. The integrated program allows senior medical students to match directly into vascular surgery residency without completing a traditional five-year general surgery training. Residents at Good Samaritan Hospital have a unique vascular surgery experience in a private hospital setting and are taught by board-certified vascular surgeons skilled in open vascular and endovascular surgery.

Application requirements for the integrated 0+5 program include submitting an ERAS Application, Dean's letter, 3 additional letters of recommendation, official medical school transcripts, USMLE Step I score of 220 or above (passed on the first attempt), USMLE Step II score of 220 or above if completed, and a personal statement. For the traditional 5+2 program, applicants need to fulfil requirements including the completion of ERAS application, USMLE Step I, II, and III scores, ABSITE scores, and three letters of recommendation with one from the Program Director.

The program director at TriHealth highlights the high volume of endovascular and open vascular surgery cases residents are exposed to, placing them above the 90th percentile nationally. Residents have the opportunity to participate in the latest procedures and devices in the field, as the hospital is involved in various FDA vascular studies. The program has a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Residents receive a comprehensive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, long-term disability coverage, professional liability insurance, memberships/licenses coverage, food stipend, professional meeting expenses, and paid vacation. The program also provides additional benefits such as free parking, surgical loupes, lead and protective eyewear, and educational resources.

If you're interested in a residency program that offers a high volume of endovascular and open vascular surgery cases, research opportunities, and a commitment to diversity, the Vascular Surgery Residency Program at TriHealth might be a suitable choice for you.
