University of California Davis Health Program

The University of California Davis Anesthesiology program aims to provide superior care for patients across Northern and Central California, train outstanding experts in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, and advance knowledge in the field. The program offers 14 residency positions per year, with 43 residents currently in the program. They also provide fellowship positions in pain medicine, pediatric anesthesiology, and adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology.

Application requirements include strong academic performance demonstrated by USMLE scores, solid clinical and professional performance showcased in letters of recommendation and the medical school dean's letter, as well as good interpersonal and communication skills as evaluated during the interview process. Applicants with diverse backgrounds and research experience are encouraged to apply.

The residency curriculum at UC Davis includes rotations in various subspecialties of anesthesia, didactic sessions, research opportunities, and quality improvement projects. Candidates interested in applying to UC Davis Anesthesiology program should submit their application via ERAS, which includes a CV, personal statement, medical school transcript, USMLE scores, MSPE, and 3-4 letters of recommendation. A passing score on USMLE Step II CK is required for all incoming trainees starting in June 2022. The program participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), and the match results are typically available in March.
