University of Florida Program

The University of Florida Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery residency program is fully accredited by the ACGME and offers residents a high surgical volume with unique surgical experiences. The program's mission is to provide comprehensive training in both the medical and surgical aspects of Otolaryngology, preparing graduates to excel in their professional careers in academic and community settings. The program aims for residents to log greater than the minimum number of Index Cases by graduation, achieve board certification within 2 years, complete a quality improvement project, conduct original research projects, and have scholarly presentations before graduating.

The program is situated in a major referral center with access to various healthcare-related disciplines on campus. Residents spend the majority of their time at Shands Hospital and the VA Medical Center. The residency program emphasizes the development of safe and expedient surgical techniques and offers a diverse range of surgical procedures including otologic, neurotologic, maxillofacial trauma, head and neck oncologic, and more.

Application requirements include common application documents, USMLE transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a photograph. Additional documents are needed for foreign students, including ECFMG certification, J-1 visa status, and proof of passing USMLE Step I, II, and III.

The salary for interns is $58,064.00, which includes health insurance, disability policy, and life insurance. Residents receive vacation time, educational leave, lab coats, and on-call meal tickets. The program has a 100% board pass rate in the last 10 years, and graduates have secured positions in both private and academic practices across the United States.
