University of Missouri-Columbia Program

The University of Missouri-Columbia Anesthesiology Residency Program is dedicated to training physicians to become diplomats of the American Board of Anesthesiology. They offer a broad range of routine and challenging clinical cases and provide opportunities in clinical and basic science research for residents. Residents receive three times the required cardiac cases, more than double the required neurosurgical cases, and average over 200 regional blocks during training.

The program accepts five residents each year; three categorical positions starting at the PGY1 level and two physician (R) positions for residents entering at the PGY2 (CA1) level. The application process requires submission through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Required documents include the common application form, three letters of recommendation, USMLE or COMLEX scores, medical school transcript, personal statement, and dean's letter.

Residents undergo a comprehensive curriculum which includes rotations in various specialties such as surgery, internal medicine, pediatric, emergency medicine, and anesthesiology. The didactic program comprises morning lectures, simulation sessions, journal clubs, and independent study time. Residents also participate in grand rounds, independent study sessions, and skill-based labs.
