University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Program

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center offers an Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program that is committed to educating residents to become proficient, independent Orthopedic surgeons. Residents receive hands-on instruction in various areas of orthopedics such as trauma, adult reconstruction, sports medicine, spine surgery, hand and upper extremity surgery, foot and ankle surgery, and pediatric orthopedics. The program is ACGME accredited and provides residents with opportunities for education, research, and surgical skills development.

The program at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences offers numerous residency programs and fellowship programs, training over 150 residents annually. The training sites include the OSU Medical Center, a large osteopathic teaching hospital, as well as nearby hospitals in Tulsa. The hospital serves as a level 3 trauma center and offers diverse patient populations in an urban setting with proximity to rural areas.

Application to the Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program requires specific qualifications such as completion of medical school in the US or Canada accredited by the LCME or the AOA. Applicants must meet osteopathic requirements if applicable, including completing hours of OMM coursework and passing the CORRE examination. The program values diversity and does not discriminate based on various factors. Audition rotations are recommended but not required for selection, and interviews are typically held in November and December.
