The Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences (OSU-CHS) is an ACGME accredited program that offers a comprehensive curriculum to prepare residents for a career in orthopedic surgery. The program focuses on education, research, and surgical skills under the guidance of skilled faculty members.

Residents in the program receive extensive hands-on training in various areas of general orthopedics, including trauma, adult reconstruction, sports medicine, spine surgery, hand and upper extremity surgery, foot and ankle surgery, and pediatric orthopedics. Through a variety of rotations and clinical experiences, residents develop proficiency in managing orthopedic care in both surgical and non-surgical contexts.

The program is designed to cultivate well-rounded physicians who provide exceptional patient care, respect staff and family members, and make sound clinical decisions. Residents are expected to continually improve through self-directed learning and teamwork.

The program operates within the Oklahoma State University Medical Center (OSUMC) and other affiliated hospitals, providing exposure to diverse patient populations. The hospital serves as a level 3 trauma center, offering residents the opportunity to experience a wide range of high acuity cases.

Rotation schedules include a variety of specialties such as foot & ankle, adult reconstruction, ortho trauma, pediatrics, surgery, emergency medicine, internal medicine, radiology, plastics, spinal surgery, and sports medicine.

The residency program offers a competitive salary with benefits including sick leave, vacation leave, parental leave, and employee medical/dental insurance. Residents also have access to optional retirement programs and research opportunities.

Application requirements for the program include having completed specific coursework, passing the CORRE examination, obtaining a letter of recommendation from an active D.O. practice, and completing OPP Continuing Medical Education during residency.

The program encourages eligible applicants to consider audition rotations, which are recommended but not required for selection. Interview consideration is given to every applicant based on personal statements, letters of recommendation, and board scores.

For more information about the residency program and application process, interested individuals can visit the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences website.
