The University of Puerto Rico Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine offers a comprehensive training experience in a supportive and friendly environment. The program, established in 1960, is the only Diagnostic Radiology residency program in Puerto Rico and is fully accredited by the ACGME.
Residents in this program receive training in nine subspecialties including Abdominal Radiology, Cardiothoracic Radiology, Neuroradiology, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Ultrasound, Breast Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Pediatric Radiology, and Interventional Radiology. The program consists of four years of training following one year of clinical experience. A total of 16 resident positions are available.
Application requirements include completion of USMLE Steps I and II, three letters of recommendation, Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE), personal statement, and CV. Interviews are typically scheduled from December through February after applications are reviewed.
The program provides rotations at various affiliated institutions, including the Administration of Medical Services (ASEM), the Pediatric University Hospital, the Cardiovascular Center for Puerto Rico, and more. Residents also have access to educational resources like physics training, question banks, and board review courses.
