The Cytopathology Fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is an ACGME accredited one-year program designed to provide an intensive training experience in the field of diagnostic cytopathology. This fellowship aims to equip fellows with the skills necessary for the interpretation of aspiration and exfoliative cytologies, alongside performing superficial needle aspirations. Fellows also interact regularly with surgical pathology, which involves the submission and interpretation of ancillary tests including flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology, and imaging analysis, thus enriching their diagnostic capability. Annually, around 31,000 cases are processed, with a large majority comprising non-gynecological specimens, which is reflective of the diverse pathology caseload at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Requirements: Candidates applying for this fellowship must complete a four-year Anatomic Pathology (AP) and Clinical Pathology (CP) residency or a three-year AP residency. Candidates are required to hold or be eligible for a Texas medical license and should ensure they review the complete Graduate Medical Education (GME) eligibility requirements prior to applying.
