Residency Advisor

The Adventist Health Tulare Family Medicine Residency Program is a comprehensive, 36-month training initiative designed to cultivate competent and compassionate family physicians committed to serving the needs of their communities, particularly those that are vulnerable and underserved.

The residency commenced in July 2021, initially welcoming six residents. The residency follows a block rotation schedule compliant with ACGME Family Medicine Review Committee requirements. Each academic year comprises 13 four-week blocks of traditional rotations that include longitudinal experiences in Health Systems Management and Behavioral Health throughout all three years.   • Adventist Health Medical Office – Tulare (residency clinic)
  • Valley Children’s Hospital
  • Adventist Health Tulare
  • Merritt Manor Convalescent Hospital
  • Various Adventist Health Medical Offices in the Central Valley

Application Process and Special Requirements

  • A minimum of three letters of recommendation.
  • Graduation from medical school within five years, with exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • U.S. citizenship or legal residency status—J-1 visa sponsorship is available, but applicants requiring H-1B visas will not be considered.
  • Passing scores on USMLE/COMLEX with no more than two attempts on each exam 2.
