The Transitional Year Residency at Brookwood Baptist Health is designed to provide a broad-based clinical experience for medical school graduates who have chosen a career specialty requiring one year of fundamental clinical education or those desiring a broad-based year to assist in making a career choice. The program emphasizes a family-like environment where residents are well-cared for by educators who guide them to become the best possible physicians. Residents have the opportunity to rotate through various specialties such as Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Dermatology, Radiology, and more. The program also supports only J-1 Visa applications sponsored by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), generally not sponsoring H-1B Visa applications. USMLE or COMLEX exams must be completed before and during the residency training. Residents must register to take Step III before the completion of the first year of residency training.
