Corewell Health East (Farmington Hills and Royal Oak) Program

The Neurology Residency program at Corewell Health East (Farmington Hills and Royal Oak) is a shared four-year program between Beaumont, Farmington Hills, and Beaumont, Royal Oak. The program aims to provide a comprehensive clinical and didactic atmosphere for neurology residents to acquire essential skills for a successful clinical practice in neurology.

The curriculum is significantly focused on clinical/bedside training, with attending neurologists and residents conducting daily rounds at Beaumont, Farmington Hills, or Beaumont, Royal Oak. There is a strong emphasis on neurology office training alongside in-patient hospital exposure, with weekly office setting rotations.

Educational opportunities include neuroanatomy lectures, on-site or virtual lectures, conferences, grand rounds, monthly journal clubs, and participation in a consortium involving the neurosciences with MSUCOM.

Residents are encouraged to engage in original research, with funds available to support their presentations at regional and national meetings. Successful completion of training qualifies residents to sit for the written boards administered by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP).

The program offers four residency openings per year, with applications accepted through ERAS. Interviews are held in January by invitation only. Graduating residents are expected to complete and review their research papers in a timely manner before obtaining their certifications.
