The Emory University School of Medicine offers a comprehensive Neurocritical Care fellowship program through its Section of Neurocritical Care in the Department of Neurosurgery. Year 1

Year 2

In the second year, the emphasis shifts toward mastery in Neurocritical Care. Fellows share management responsibilities of the Neurocritical service, preparing them for independent practice. Collaborative leadership is developed, and teaching opportunities for neurosurgery and neurology residents are integrated into the curriculum. Electives in ICU EEG, Bronchoscopy, and Stroke are available for further specialization.

Training Sites

The program primarily utilizes three key training sites: Emory University Hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital, and Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital. These facilities provide a diverse clinical environment and access to a high volume of complex cases, particularly in conditions such as subarachnoid hemorrhage, which is among the largest referral centers for this condition in the country.

Research Opportunities

Fellows have access to robust academic resources and opportunities to engage in significant research in Neurocritical Care. Ongoing studies may focus on Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH) clinical trials and various other aspects of outcomes research. Each fellow is encouraged to pursue related research projects, develop quality improvement initiatives, and pursue publications in pertinent areas of Neurocritical Care.
