Geisinger Health System (Danville) Orthopaedic Surgery Central Residency program offers a unique educational experience focused on learning and tailored mentorship. The program emphasizes high case volumes and protected time for residents to deeply engage in learning. The innovative preceptorship training model allows for rapid skill development and autonomy.

The five-year residency program at Geisinger accepts four PGY1 resident trainees annually. Applicants are selected based on medical school transcripts, letters of recommendation, and USMLE scores. The interview process occurs in December and January.

Residents experience a curriculum centered around daily didactics and a mentorship model. They are paired with attending physicians for three-month rotations to facilitate accelerated education.
