The Johns Hopkins University Gynecology & Obstetrics Residency Program aims to train the next generation of teachers, leaders, and researchers in women's health. The four-year training program offers a rich curriculum covering comprehensive women’s healthcare and various subspecialties. Residents have opportunities for research, leadership, advocacy, and teaching.
The program provides a diverse range of experiences across three main hospitals: The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and Greater Baltimore Medical Center, enhancing exposure to different patient populations and medical conditions.
Residents can engage in electives, rotations in subspecialties like maternal-fetal medicine and gynecologic oncology, and a continuity clinic starting in the first postgraduate year. The didactic curriculum includes weekly sessions, simulation programs, simulation orientations, and grand rounds.
The application deadline for the 2023 program is October 1, 2023. The program reviews applications holistically, considering multiple factors like medical school, USMLE step scores, clinical experience, research activities, and dean's letters. The program accepts only J-1 visas, with no requirement on the year of graduation or U.S. clinical experience for foreign medical graduates.
Virtual interview days for applicants are scheduled on Fridays in November and December. The interview process includes detailed program reviews, faculty and resident interviews, program director meetings, virtual tours, and informal social gatherings with residents. Residents enjoy a supportive environment, diverse training, and opportunities for leadership, research, and advocacy, preparing them for successful careers in various specialties or academic settings.
