Obstetrics and gynecology - Hershey, PA | ACGME Code: 2204121246 | NRMP Code: 1617220C0

The Penn State Milton S Hershey Medical Center Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency program provides a comprehensive training experience in obstetric and gynecologic specialties. With over 30 dedicated faculty members, residents gain exposure to a wide range of specialties and subspecialties including active participation in surgeries, oncology, minimally invasive surgery, and female pelvic medicine.

The program's mission is to become the preferred clinical, educational, and research resource for women's healthcare in central Pennsylvania. Residents are taught essential skills to excel in obstetrics and gynecology, aiming to shape them into sought-after consultants. The program ensures a demanding yet enriching environment for learning without overwhelming residents.

Application for the program involves participation in the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). Interviews are typically granted to exceptional candidates, starting around early October, with interview days scheduled mostly in November and December. The program also offers protected didactic time and a night float system to enhance learning opportunities throughout the four-year program.

Residents progress through rotations in various specialties each year, such as obstetrics, gynecologic oncology, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, maternal-fetal medicine, and more. The structured curriculum also includes weekly educational sessions, seminars, and research requirements that contribute to a well-rounded training experience.

The program emphasizes the importance of resident well-being and provides resources for emotional, social, and physical health. Support is available for new residents transitioning to Hershey, including information about living in the area and navigating the educational policies and resources specific to the program.
