Curriculum

The curriculum is structured over four years, integrating a blend of clinical rotations, didactic training, and simulation experiences.

First Year (PGY1)

The intern year includes a comprehensive orientation followed by monthly rotations encompassing obstetrics, gynecology, maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, intensive care, and primary care methods.

Second Year (PGY2)

Residents begin to gain more autonomy, with substantial exposure to outpatient maternal-fetal medicine and gynecologic surgery. This includes rotations in gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Third Year (PGY3)

In the third year, residents take on chief responsibilities, leading patient management and participating in quality improvement committees while deepening their clinical skills across various specialties.

Fourth Year (PGY4)

As chief residents, they act in the capacity of junior attending physicians, managing clinical responsibilities with oversight from attending faculty while working in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Research Opportunities

The program emphasizes research training and scholarly activities. Residents are required to engage in research activities starting from the first year, with opportunities to publish findings and present at national conferences. The curriculum includes workshops on research methods, mentorship from faculty, and resources from the Women’s Health Integrated Research Center.

Simulation and Didactics

Competitiveness and Application Requirements

The program is competitive, welcoming applications from US medical graduates and international medical graduates (IMGs). It requests completion of the ECFMG certification for international applicants, and supports both H-1B and J-1 visa sponsorship. Candidates must submit three letters of recommendation, including one from the OB-GYN Department Chair, alongside an official medical school transcript and USMLE scores. While there are no strict cut-off scores for exams, applicants are encouraged to demonstrate proficiency in the USMLE series.
