The program requires a complete ERAS application including medical and USMLE transcripts, letters of recommendation, personal statement, and Dean’s Letter. They typically interview around 60-70 candidates chosen through a holistic application review process. Visiting rotations are not mandatory for interview consideration.
The program offers 64 interviews annually, and all interviews are conducted virtually. Interview days include meetings with faculty, resident interviews, program overviews, and virtual tours of hospital facilities. The program supports the joint CREOG/APGO proposal for residency application standards.
Charlottesville, home of UVA, provides an ideal setting for residents to explore and grow. The area combines city life with the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, featuring a range of cultural attractions, outdoor activities, and a variety of dining options. The program also emphasizes resident wellness through activities such as wellness days, resident retreats, and a holiday karaoke party.
Residents receive comprehensive education in obstetrics, benign gynecology, gynecologic oncology, and primary care. The educational curriculum includes a mix of clinical, didactic, and simulation-based learning, which includes robotics experience. This equips graduates to provide safe and high-quality care to women.
