Northside Hospital Program

The Northside Hospital Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship Program provides a comprehensive and rigorous training experience aimed at developing skilled colorectal surgeons. The program offers exposure to a wide variety of surgical techniques and complex cases, including anorectal disease, inflammatory bowel disease, robotic-assisted surgeries, and extensive endoscopy experience. This enriching curriculum is designed to meet the requirements for competency and confidence necessary for fellows to successfully pass the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery (ABCRS) examination.

Curriculum

Visa Sponsorship

For international applicants, it is important to note that the Northside Hospital program does not sponsor any visas. Candidates must have the legal capability to begin employment in the United States by the start date designated in the Fellowship Agreement of Appointment.

Application Process

Prospective fellows must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Essential documents include letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and academic records. The program does not discriminate based on sex, race, age, or other factors, and is committed to reviewing applications holistically to select candidates for interviews. Interviews typically occur in September and are based on the completeness and strength of the ERAS application.

Competitiveness and Special Requirements

The fellowship program is known to be competitive due to its reputation and the quality of training provided. Special application requirements include the necessity to hold a completed General Surgery Residency of at least five years, as well as a thorough evaluation based on individual academic performance and board exam scores.
