The Southern Winds Hospital Psychiatry Residency Program is a four-year ACGME-accredited program designed to prepare residents for board certification in Psychiatry. The curriculum includes comprehensive training in various psychiatric specialties, clinical experiences, didactics, and scholarly activities.
Application Requirements: - Eligible applicants must be graduates from accredited medical schools. - International Medical Graduates must have ECFMG certification. - USMLE Step scores of over 200 on the first attempt are preferred. - Three years of clinical experience in a US hospital is recommended for IMGs. - A demonstration of interest in Psychiatry through research, advocacy, etc., is valued. - Applicants must not have been dismissed from a previous residency program. - Years since medical school graduation will be considered.
Visas: The program does not sponsor J1 Visas at the moment.
Moonlighting: Residents may moonlight with program director approval based on progress and academic standing.
Application Process: Applications accepted only through ERAS and require various documents including a personal statement, transcripts, USMLE scores, letters of recommendation, and a Dean's letter.
Residents' Criteria for Graduation: - Successful completion of program requirements, clinical experiences, and logs. - Attendance at didactic sessions. - Completion of QI and research projects. - Passing USMLE Step 3. - Achievement of program goals, ACGME requirements, and ABPN milestones. - Judgement-free clinical record. - Demonstrated ethical behavior, professionalism, and clinical competence. - Proficiency in clinical skills and knowledge.
