Tower Health/Reading Hospital Program

The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Tower Health/Reading Hospital provides a comprehensive and innovative educational experience to prepare residents to become exceptional clinicians. The program offers a three-year residency program with 10 PGY-1 positions available annually. Applicants are required to submit ERAS applications and participate in the NRMP match. Residents engage in a variety of clinical experiences, such as pediatric shifts, procedure days, trauma shifts, U/S workshops, and mock resuscitations. There are also opportunities for advanced life support ambulance ride-alongs to gain pre-hospital emergency care experience.

Reading, PA, offers a vibrant cultural scene and outdoor recreational activities, providing a well-rounded environment for residents. The program curriculum includes rotations in different specialties by year, weekly emergency medicine didactics, journal clubs, and ultrasound training. Residents also benefit from exposure to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children for additional pediatric-focused education.

The program highlights the Reading Hospital Emergency Department's Level 1 Trauma Center and a busy emergency department serving a diverse patient population. Residents have access to a dedicated Psychiatric Evaluation Center, a Pediatric Emergency Department, and academic affiliations with Drexel University College of Medicine.
