Tower Health/Reading Hospital Program

The Tower Health/Reading Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, located in West Reading, Pennsylvania, is a comprehensive and competitive program that has been dedicated to excellence in family medicine education for more than 45 years. It is accredited by the ACGME and has achieved full Osteopathic Recognition, supporting a total of 24 residents with eight new interns entering the program each year.

The program offers a rich, robust history of academic experience in a community hospital environment, providing training across all clinical disciplines. Residents have the opportunity to manage a diverse and medically complex patient population through the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model at the busy Family Health Care Center. Training areas emphasize pediatric care, community medicine, behavioral/addiction medicine, osteopathic principles, and evidence-based medicine.

How to Apply: For the application process, the program accepts through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and requires the following: - Common Application Form (CAF) - Medical school transcript - Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) - Three letters of recommendation, preferably with at least one from a family physician - Personal statement - USMLE/COMLEX scores - ECFMG status report (for international graduates)

Minimum Criteria: - Passing range USMLE or COMLEX board scores, with no more than one board exam failure. - Graduation from medical school should be no greater than three years from the date of application or no greater than three years should have elapsed since engaging in full-time, independent patient care. - Both allopathic and osteopathic, as well as international graduates, are welcome. - Compliance with Tower Health Department of Human Resources requirements, including the COVID vaccine mandate. - US experience preferred for international graduates but not required. - Consideration of J-1 Visa candidates.
