University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Program

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency is a six-year ACGME-accredited program focusing on educating trainees in the art and science of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The residency aims to develop highly competent, inquisitive, and responsible Plastic Surgeons. The curriculum is designed to equip trainees with the skills necessary for success in various types of practices within the field.

Application to the program is through the Plastic Surgery Common Application (PSCA) instead of ERAS. The program follows ACAPS application processes. The program encourages applicants with USMLE scores >215, and while there is no strict cutoff, applicants with previous exam failures are generally less likely to match. Completion of Step 2 is preferred. Graduates beyond 5 years are less likely to match, and U.S. clinical experience is highly encouraged but not mandatory.
