The Radiation Oncology Residency Program at the University of Iowa is a four-year ACGME-accredited program that offers exposure to all contemporary treatment types and delivery modalities. The program provides thorough training with a focus on technical training and collaboration with other specialties related to cancer treatment. Graduates can expect to pursue careers in private practice or academic medicine. The program offers both clinical and research pathways and has a close relationship with the Free Radical and Radiation Biology Program.

Application to the program requires completion of the first post-graduate year in specified specialties, including at least nine months of direct patient care in medical and/or surgical specialties other than radiation oncology. The program will not be participating in ERAS for the 2024 season but will be accepting applications for two vacancies in the 2025 season. International medical graduates must have an ECFMG certificate to apply.
