The University of Miami/Jackson Health System Family Medicine Residency Program is the first family medicine residency program in the country, accredited since 1968.

Mission & Vision: The program aims to prepare resident physicians committed to serving the unique healthcare needs of the diverse, multicultural population of Miami. Residents are trained in evidence-based research and multiculturalism, emphasizing social determinants of health. The goal is to launch competent family physician leaders onto national and global healthcare stages while maintaining a commitment to the local community served.

Program Director’s Welcome: The program is part of one of the largest academic medical centers, providing access to a wide range of pathology, patients, and world-class faculty. The faculty have various special interests, including care of older patients, community medicine, global health policy, and integrative medicine. The curriculum includes academic and board preparation sessions, weekly academic day conferences, and a family medicine inpatient service supervised by faculty.
