The University of Miami/Jackson Health System Medical Genetics and Genomics Residency Program aims to train residents to be competent and independently practicing physicians in all areas of genetics. Residents are exposed to state-of-the-art clinical and translational genetics, clinical rotations, and scholarly activities. The program focuses on teaching through didactics, clinical encounters, and presentations under the guidance of board-certified faculty mentors and genetic counselors.
The curriculum includes exposure to various genetic specialties such as cancer genetics, cardiogenetics, neurogenetics, and more, as well as laboratory rotations. Residents are expected to participate in teaching other residents and medical students and develop autonomy in patient and lab diagnosis and management.
