Albany Medical Center Program

The Albany Medical Center Program offers an Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency program that aims to train surgeons eligible and qualified for board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Two positions are available each year for a six-year training cycle. Residents receive integrated core surgery training, gradually gaining responsibility for patient care and expertise in various surgical disciplines.

Plastic surgery residents are actively involved in inpatient and outpatient care, working closely with faculty members in all clinical activities. The program emphasizes hands-on experience, with operative responsibilities awarded based on residents' developing abilities. The Division of Plastic Surgery fosters a close camaraderie among faculty and residents.

The residency provides a comprehensive educational experience, including didactic seminars, journal clubs, research conferences, and anatomic dissections. Residents also have access to state-of-the-art simulation centers and cadaver labs for practical training. Opportunities for teaching, research, and mentorship are integral parts of the program.

The program supports the development of well-rounded plastic surgeons, preparing graduates for success in academic or private practice and fellowship opportunities. For application details, the program adheres to American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons (ACAPS) interview recommendations. Application deadlines and interview information are determined by ACAPS each year. Applications are accepted exclusively through the Plastic Surgery Common Application (PSCA), not ERAS. All interviews are conducted virtually.
