Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center offers an Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency program that is a 6-year training program. The program aims to provide high-quality clinical care, educate future plastic surgeons, and promote advancements in the field of plastic surgery.
Eligibility: This program is open to graduating medical students, with one candidate selected annually through the NRMP match process.
Program Design: During the first two years, residents rotate through prerequisite surgery training in various disciplines including trauma, anesthesia, dermatology, breast surgery, transplant, vascular, ICU, colorectal, oculoplastic surgery, and pediatric surgery. Additionally, 6 months of plastic surgery training at BIDMC are included in this phase.
From PGY-3 to PGY-6, residents exclusively rotate through plastic surgery programs at BIDMC, Boston Children's Hospital, BID Needham, and other associated sites. Rotations include Hand and Extremity, Craniofacial, Breast Reconstruction, Pediatrics, and Aesthetic surgeries. In the Chief Resident year, an Elective block is also incorporated into the program.
This Plastic Surgery Residency program is structured to provide a comprehensive and dynamic educational experience for future plastic surgeons.
