The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Training Program at Bridgeport Hospital is an ACGME accredited, four-year program that accepts 16 residents. The diverse patient population ensures exposure to a wide range of disease entities. The program offers hands-on training by subspecialty-trained faculty to develop excellent radiologists and teachers. Residents receive extensive clinical training and have opportunities for research projects and participation in hospital committees. The program boasts a 100% board pass rate and successful fellowship placements.

The Radiology Department is fully digitalized with advanced equipment, including CT, MRI, angiographic and uro-radiologic suites, and digital mammography. Residents rotate through various subspecialties and have opportunities for elective rotations and mini-fellowships. The program emphasizes gradual increased responsibility and supports engagement in academic research.

Residents can expect daily conferences, a comprehensive physics curriculum, interesting case discussions, and opportunities to present at national meetings. The program also offers an Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) track for residents interested in this field.

The program promotes work-life balance and supports residents with families. Social events and outdoor activities are organized for residents to maintain a healthy working environment. The residency class often elects a Social Chair to coordinate events.

Application requirements include submission of materials through ERAS, USMLE transcripts, and letters of recommendation. Foreign Medical Graduates have additional criteria to meet. Interviews are typically held in December and January. Successful completion of an ACGME-approved PGY1 internship is required before joining the residency program.
