The Griffin Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program offers a categorical three-year training program. Residents receive traditional internal medicine instruction in both in-patient and out-patient settings while embracing Griffin Hospital's unique Planetree philosophy. Griffin Hospital has a close affiliation with Yale University, allowing residents to complete sub-specialty elective rotations at a tertiary care university hospital and participate in lectures, conferences, and rounds with Yale faculty.
The program includes core rotations in General Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Non-Cardiac Telemetry, and Critical Care. Residents also have the opportunity to complete elective rotations in various sub-specialties at Yale-New Haven Hospital or the Yale-affiliated West Haven VA Hospital. There is a focus on patient-centered care, communication skills, health literacy, and other curricular initiatives.
Applications are accepted through ERAS except for the Advanced Preventive Medicine Program. The program prefers recent medical graduates and requires USMLE Step 1 pass (first attempt) and a score of 230 or higher on Step 2 (first attempt). For International Medical Graduates, US clinical experience is preferred. The program sponsors J-1 training visas only.
