Crozer-Chester Medical Center Program

The General Surgery Residency Program at Crozer-Chester Medical Center is committed to training a diverse group of general surgery physicians, preparing them for careers in fellowships, academics, private practice, or research. The program aims to expose residents to clinical research, quality improvement, patient safety issues, and health policy within a rich clinical environment. The curriculum follows a competency-based approach with structured assignments at each level, regular didactic sessions, clear resident responsibilities, and supervision aligned with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) competencies. Residents progress through clinical experiences with graded responsibility, continuity in patient care, and a balance between education and service.

The program's curriculum focuses on crucial competencies vital for general surgery practice, including patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice.
