Eisenhower Medical Center Program

The Eisenhower Health Family Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to providing comprehensive training for full-spectrum family medicine practice. Residents primarily care for patients in the Center for Family Medicine (CFM) located within the Eisenhower George & Julia Argyros Health Center in La Quinta. This primary care facility grants residents the opportunity to work with diverse populations across the Coachella Valley, including underserved communities through Volunteers in Medicine in Indio, which caters specifically to individuals without health insurance.

A significant feature of the Eisenhower Health Family Medicine Residency is its flexibility, which allows for six elective rotations during the three years of training. This enables residents to explore various medical interests such as sports medicine, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, integrative medicine, and urgent care. Residents receive training not only in clinical procedures but also in critical areas including ethics, geriatrics, obstetical care, sports medicine, and preventive medicine, creating a well-rounded educational experience.

Program Structure

Established in 2011, the residency program was designed to cultivate future family physicians in a supportive and vibrant learning environment, promoting the ethos of "Health Care As It Should Be.” The curriculum aligns with the Core Competencies set by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), covering essential areas such as Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Professionalism, Systems-Based Practice, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, along with Interpersonal and Communication Skills.

Visa Support and Application Requirements

The Eisenhower Family Medicine Residency Program does not sponsor visas, and it limits eligibility to candidates who graduated from medical school no more than five years prior to application. ECFMG certification must also be issued before the residency's start date. All interested applicants must utilize the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for submissions which include required recommendation letters and transcripts.
