Eligibility for the program includes being board certified or board eligible, or completing three years of clinical training in an ACGME or AOA accredited internal medicine program. An active California medical license is also required before the fellowship begins.5 This license must be secured within 90 days of starting the fellowship, or participation in the program may be impacted.

Interviews and Selection

Candidate interviews take place weekly in October following a comprehensive review of their applications by the faculty. Strong candidates are invited for an interview where informational program packets are shared. The interview team submits ratings to create a rank order list, which aids in matchmaking through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). The process is conducted with strict confidentiality, ensuring that individual identities are protected.5
